The Lady Chablis, The Grand Empress of Savannah, the star of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," Miss Gay Pride, Club One's claim to fame, LGBTQ activist, the genius behind "Two tears in a bucket, motherfuck it."
I grew up in Savannah. A childhood friend and I were gchatting yesterday. We'd seen the news that The Lady Chablis had died. As he put it, "She was the first queer person I ever was aware of, and her unbridled courage to bend a mean world around her has helped us to form a foundation on which I stand.
